The purpose of this assessment is to give comment on the dental and personal treatment received from the Alpha Dental Studio during the period February through October 2011 and to give guidance to all future patients on what to expect from dental treatment in Bulgaria.Firstly it must be said that Dr. Yassen Dimitrov is a dental surgeon of the highest calibre and dedication, his practice is run with great attention to hygiene and wherever possible he tries to maintain his appointment roster. He is supported by two efficient dental assistants and members of his family.I, as a patient well into his seventies who lives in Cyprus, am not the easiest of individuals, I have a very low pain threshold and need confidence to accept all the treatments that were necessary when having (1) February 2011 (in the first of three visits); all my teeth removed and gums stitched under intravenous anaesthetic plus the provision of provisional dentures: then (2) July 2011 having five implants in my lower jaw, again under sedation; and finally (3) September 2011 returning to Sofia for the installation of the implant bridge and a precision cast upper denture – this time with anaesthetic delivered by injection into the lower jaw (which was not acceptable to me). As I have said, Dr. Dimitrov carried out all this work in a very professional manner; however, he was not too well assisted by the team of dental technicians that worked offsite from the Dental Studio. Worldwide it is generally accepted that dental technicians work a very tight and rushed schedules to achieve objectives in an environment of changing techniques and developments, here was no exception, my schedules, whilst finally achieved were never ‘delivered’ on time. There was always a “ninth-hour” delay that resulted in the treatments being completed within hours instead of days before my departures from Sofia. It should be added that Dr. Dimitrov had additional constraints brought about by his project management of his new dental surgery that is, and has been for this year, under development and construction. Hopefully when this project has been completed and he has moved in, his practice will achieve even higher standards in his techniques and deliveries. As part of his service there is the availability of an apartment situated close to the practice that is comfortable with facilities that are acceptable for short durations of stay. This apartment is competitively charged and its cost is in addition to the very competitive costs for the treatments.I have no hesitation is recommending The Alpha Dental Studio practice and Dr. Dimitrov in particular as long as prospective patients are aware of the environmental conditions as they presently exist in Bulgaria
